Welcome to the website for Front Sight magazine, the official newsletter of the United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) and the foremost practical shooting publication in the world. Front Sight tracks the events, people, and equipment that dominate the highly competitive world of practical shooting competition (IPSC type). Front Sight serves USPSA members in all 50 U.S. states and more than 30 nations.

Our readership of local and national athletes includes the decision-makers for police departments, local shooting clubs, and various military organizations. USPSA shooters each consume thousands of rounds of centerfire ammunition annually, and are regularly tapped by the top military and police organizations to provide practical firearm training. Our sport has redefined the guns, techniques, and targets used by those organizations, greatly enhancing their effectiveness.

Historically, and today, our membership rolls read like a "who’s who" of tactical shooting. The organization can point to Jeff Cooper, Ray Chapman, Brian Enos, and Rob Leatham as distinguished members.

Front Sight focuses on the U.S. market, but recent international coverage includes features on World Shoot XIV (in Guayaquil, Ecuador), the Pan-American Championship, and a shotgun championship in Bali.

We’re not a general-interest publication, but if you’re looking for practical shooting coverage with more depth than the “9mm versus .45 ACP” arguments found in general-interest gun magazines, you’ll be thrilled with Front Sight.

2009 Handgun Nationals

Rogert Vogel, Dave Sevigny, Max Michel, Ted Puente, and Cliff Walsh all found their way to victory at USPSA's handgun nationals in Las Vegas. While we felt Robert Vogel's successes deserved the cover, Ted Puente and Cliff Walsh certainly caught our eye. Both are first-time national champions, upsetting the favorites in their divisions. Walsh in particular upset legendary wheelgun ace Jerry Miculek, who (until now) has never LOST a USPSA revolver title -- and virtually owns the ICORE title as well.

Among the women Jessie Abbate continues to crush the competition, but Randi Rogers and Megan Francisco brought home the titles in their respective divisions. Their stories appear separately in an article by Paul Hyland.
